Being Pregnant
Calendar

Until my Due Date: June 13th 2002

Week 25: The baby weighs 1 pound 9 ounces (709 grams). The bones are continuing their ossification process, which means that they are becoming harder and stronger.

Week 26: The baby is able to hear you and those around you. Although we assume that the uterus is a quiet place, the baby has been surrounded by noise since it could first hear. Your heart beating, digestive noises, and other body functions can be heard by the baby, as well as noises from the outside world. The baby may jump at a sudden noise. The baby is aware of lightness and darkness also, since some light can be seen from inside the uterus. The baby weighs 1 pound 12 ounces (794 grams) and measures 32.5 cm or 12.8 inches in total length.

Week 27: The baby's skin is protected with vernix, but it will still be very wrinkled from floating in water. The baby will often look wrinkled until a few weeks after birth as the newborn fills out into a baby. The baby has finally hit the 2 pound mark (900 grams) this week.

Week 28: The baby's eyelashes are developing. Subcutaneous (under the skin) fat is being deposited. If the baby is a boy, his testes will probably begin descending. The baby is about 13.8 inches long (35 cms) and weighs about 2 pounds 4 ounces (1 kilogram).
