Being Pregnant
Calendar

Until my Due Date: June 13th 2002

Week 13: All twenty teeth have formed and are in place under the baby's gums. Your baby weighs about 1 ounce (28.3 grams). The placenta weighs about an ounce now as well.

Your baby's intestines are developing and moving into the correct place in the body. The pancreas is now secreting insulin.

Week 14: The baby is now about 12.5 cm or 4.92 inches in length. It is now producing urine and actually urinating into the amniotic fluid (This does not harm the baby or you). It also practices "breathing" the amniotic fluid (the liquid in which the baby floats) in and out of its lungs.

Week 15: The baby may have developed the habit of sucking his or her thumb by now. Its skin is very thin, and blood vessels can clearly be seen underneath.

The baby weighs about 70 grams. The scalp hair pattern is developing. And the heart is pumping about 25 quarts of blood a day. This will increase to about 300 quarts by delivery time.

Week 16: Your baby's nails are well formed now. Many babies even need to have their nails trimmed at birth. The ears have also moved into place on the head.

The baby is emptying its bladder every 40-45 minutes. Movements of the arms and legs are becoming more coordinated. Your baby weighs about 3 ounces (85 grams) and is 6.3 inches (16 cm) long. The gender may be detectable through an ultrasound examination.
